Gundam Assemble Squad & Tactics Deck Building · Gundam Assemble

Start with the scenario, not a tier list

Most scenarios use three or five units; some also use a Carrier. Establish that format before buying or selecting a squad. The core rules allow cross-series combinations unless the scenario says otherwise.

For a first custom squad, decide how you will reach objectives, threaten enemies and spend Energy. Those are editorial planning questions rather than official unit classes. A strong attack profile alone does not answer the mission's movement or scoring demands.

Duplicate names are not duplicate cards

The restriction is on identical unit card numbers, not just the mobile suit's name. You normally cannot include two copies of the exact same number. Mass Produced units are the exception; identify each miniature and its corresponding token clearly.

For example, ST01-U01 Gundam has the signature title Legendary Hero, while PA01-U01 Gundam has Elite Mobile Suit. The core rulebook uses those different Gundam versions together as an example. Keep their cards and signature Tactics separate even though both models are RX-78-2.

Build exactly nine Tactics cards

Deck inclusion and valid targets are separate checks. A faction requirement can allow a card into your deck, while the effect text still restricts which unit it can target. A signature card naming Gundam does not automatically work on every Gundam version.

Draw three cards initially and three more after Phase 1. Card effects may draw more, but the deck is finite. You cannot keep drawing after it runs out, and you should not assume every chosen card will appear naturally in a normal game.

A practical squad review

After a game, note whether your losses came from time costs, positioning or card timing before changing several units at once. One controlled change makes the result easier to understand. For tournament play, also read current event restrictions and FAQs.
